Mid-Autumn Festival
China Studies celebrates
17 September was Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most important holidays in China. As is tradition, our China Studies program held an event where students had a chance to learn more about the history and traditions of the holiday, and try some Chinese moon cakes, which are traditionally eaten during Mid-Autumn Festival.
Mid-Autumn Festival commemorates the legend of Chang’e, who ascended to the moon after drinking a potion of immortality. The holiday has been celebrated in China for thousands of years and by ethnically Chinese communities around the world for centuries.
