Celebration of Holi

at Uniparken

Students and staff at the Indian and South Asian Studies at the Global Studies Department celebrated Holi at Uniparken on Friday, March 10, 2023, by casting organically produced coloured powders at friends and colleagues.

An Indian festival, Holi, is popularly known as the festival of colours and is celebrated in communities across India. Although the way in which Holi is celebrated (by applying or gently throwing colours on others) remains identical throughout some of the countries in South Asia, each region in India has its own narrative that explains why Holi is celebrated at the time that it is, and in the manner that it is. The most popular understanding is that the festival marks the end of winter and the coming of spring and is an invocation for a good harvest.
